2021 Suzuki Across Walkaround

Hello guys, welcome to Car Obsession, and welcome to another walkaround. This time it's the Suzuki Across, although you may know this car as the Toyota RAV4. There is a good reason for this - Suzuki has teamed up with fellow Japanese car giant Toyota.

The Across marks a milestone for Suzuki as it's the brands first plug-in hybrid car. Providing the power is a naturally aspirated 2.5 litre petrol and two electric motors - one per axle. 306hp is made available, meaning this seemingly sensible, practical family SUV will hit 62mph in just 6.0 seconds.

Don't think that design brief for the Across was all about performance, though, as it's also very frugal. Suzuki claims up to 282mpg on a combined run, with CO2 emissions as low as 22g/km - lower than its rivals. The Across can also be driven on EV only power for a range of up to 46 miles - more than its rivals. It also betters its competitors when it comes to BIK rating as it offers 6% whereas other cars in class are around the 10% mark.

Despite being a Suzuki, it's not a cheap car. There's only one trim level available, which is yours for the sum of £45,599. Granted, you do get a lot of kit, and it's around £2,000 than the RAV4 PHEV, but that still seems like a lot of money.

Standard features include 19\" alloys, LED lights, keyless entry, heated fronts, heated rear sears, 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, 9” touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity.

There’s more, though… There’s also front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, dual zone climate control, power tailgate, and privacy glass. Safety kit? There’s plenty of that too, including six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, speed limiter, and vehicle sway warning function. It should come as little surprise, then, that the Suzuki Across was awarded 5 stars by Euro NCAP.
